Smoothies for Babes + Kids!

Nutrition for Babies + Children ebbs + flows over the course of a week…. let’s face it, some days are better than others!

Smoothies are a sure-fire way to get the goods into them, supporting power-house nutrition for our Pickiest Littles, weird vegetable strikes or unusual phases such as “I won’t eat anything green”.  (Just sayin’).

Although I’m not a big advocate for negotiating at meal time, or too many exhausting “Mom Tricks”, we can literally hide the world in these beauties, without your Sweet Ones ever really knowing what’s in ’em!

For the toddlers on the block – get them involved!  There is no better way to spark a love of healthy food than by letting them play with gorgeous ingredients.

For our Littlest Littles Starting Solids, I’m fairly liberal when it comes to offering wholesome, easy to digest fruits + vegetables pretty early on.  If I made a smoothie, I would keep it simple and share small sips with my baby.

I definitely stayed away from anything too fibrous (like kale!) and would recommend you avoid dairy, refined sweeteners, or any type of heavily processed protein powder such as whey protein etc.

Keep it Real + Keep it Simple

If there is a history of food allergies or sensitivities in the family, throwing caution to the wind may not be ideal for your baby either.

Peach Country Bliss

This smoothie would be appropriate for approximately 8+ months as some of these ingredients are more complex to digest … (I typically offer fairly basic ingredients before that, although work with many families who prefer a slightly quicker pace).  That said, you know your baby best!

You may like to thin out smoothies with breastmilk or water.  I use Life Factory glass bottles and simply cut a larger hole in the nipple.

.

  • 1 Organic Peach or approx 1/2 C frozen Mango
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • Juice of 1 Lemon (Orange is typically more problematic on the allergy scale)
  • 1 TBSP Hemp Seeds (Optional)
  • 1/2 Turmeric Root Powder
  • Dash of Cracked Pepper
  • 1 tsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp raw unpasteurized honey (1+ year) (Optional)
  • Blend.  Watch Baby Guzzle.
